Opera North presents Skin Deep, a new operetta by multi award winning writer and broadcaster Armando Iannucci and a double bill of star-spangled Broadway treats - George Gershwins Pulitzer Prize-winning Of Thee I Sing, and its sequel Let Em Eat Cake. SKIN DEEP Composer David Sawer (From Morning to Midnight). collaborates with Armando Iannucci (Im Alan Partridge, The Thick of It) and theatre director Richard Jones to present a new satirical operetta about societys obsession with staying young and beautiful. Dr Needlemeier, the king of cosmetic surgery is a busy man with a dark secret - hes concocting an elixir of youth. Will he ever be able to face the ugly truth that beauty is more than skin deep? Conducted by Opera Norths music director Richard Farnes.
